So all in all I had a FANTASTIC time.
I'm back home now...realizing how sad I am...how I'm going to miss all of you so entirely much. Experiencing all these wonderful things with my family was amazing, and I can't wait to go back again.
Finding chilies in my food (unintended), shouting out "Maloo!" and mimicking (as best as possible) the other people who sold food on the street, ODEL (need i say more? hint: aliya)....all the wonderful amazing places we visited....oh so many stories and memories shall forever be held in my mind....I'm gonna miss you guys.... =)
What I did in Sri Lanka:
The mountain that the prince lived on, is called Sigiriya: one word: amaaaaazing. It was pretty cool seeing their water system and how it all worked. The paintings in the rock were beautiful...and I also learned he had 500 "girlfriends" (hahahaha..). We didn't go all the way to the top because the hawks have been buggin the hornet nests; seriously you could see the hornets swarming like on cartoons: black cloud looking things.....it was scary. =)
Visiting the tea plantations was one of my favourite times because it was in the area Nuwara-Eliya. BEAUTIFUL. Everything was seriously GREEN! I loved it. In that area there were also a ton of monkeys and of course that was very congenial. =) It's also the area where I saw a lot of bright-pastel-like coloured houses! Like----awesomeness!!! =) teeheehee I guess you had to be there to see it. (but c'mon--who wouldn't want a hot pink house? or aqua blue????) lol.
Geckos: well they're everywhere but the toilet hahahaha. =D It was kinda cool cause when we got there, they were pretty big, then at times we saw them guarding their eggs, then they slowly disappeared and we saw tiny baby geckos by the end of the trip. =)
EEWWWWW. SPIDERS! YES!! I SAW A HUGE ONE! ON THE TABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YUP. and it had a sack of eggs!! then my dad and my uncle started poking it around trying to get it out of the house--lemme tell ya....what an episode that was. :P I was screamin my head off. I'll upload pics later. It was just plain old scary.
We went on a safari and saw TONS of elephants!!!!! =D >odel< =) It was wonderful. We saw a lot of beautiful birds, woodpeckers and parrots (TUCANS!) and a lotta peacocks (but sadly they wouldn't let me get out of the jeep to pick out a feather :P everything in that reserve has to remain untouched basically :P )
FISHERMEN! Kay--obviously it takes skills and patience to fish, but on poles?! Pro-ness I tell you. Pro-ness. Out of luck we saw three of these fishermen. By luck I mean it was because we had gone down south that morning and heading back home in the afternoon...well it was just lucky to see them! =) Beautiful scene.
hahaha the Fish Market was smelly but still interesting. If you guys ever decide to go to Sri Lanka, you've got to visit the fish market for sure! =) **Memo: Don't buy crabs the night of a full moon....cause something happens inside them and the meat is kind of liquidy.
We did go on a train ride--it was up in Nuwara-Eliya! Wonderful experience. ahahaha shoulder-to-shoulder.
So...I look forward to talking about the details and other wonderful stories with you guys personally...because it's so hard to explain my excitement in words. Hahahaha, as facial expressions and excited sounds cannot be made on the keyboard they way I'd like them to be. =D
