After I wrote that blogpost, we were driving around on this mountain, and we decided to go on a train ride. All I have to say is WOW. Great experience really. I loved it =) It's pretty muched packed, kinda like a can of sardines! Shoulder to shoulder, you're stuck between a buncha strangers (who pretty much stare at you the whole time becaus ethe know you're foreign) =). It was really fun though ;)
Other than that....how bout I teach you some Sinhala??? =) I obviously can't spell it right because here the letters are like squiggles and they represent sounds....so I'm gonna spell themn like sounds.
mauloo: fish
wuday: deepfried daul --> my goodness this stuff is GOOD. lol. hahahahaha.....
munyOka: a vegetable
[as you can probably tell, I'm also talking about food....these three that I've listed are sold quite frequently by people on the streets....they rided their bikes and keep these things in attached baskets. I'm sure all of my Sri Lankan relatives are laughing by now =D ]
pissoo: okay, no this is not a bad word because I know it can mean something in English....but it means crazy ...lol.
aiyeo: if you can pronounce that.....it's kinda like "my gooodness!" in a groaning kinda voice.....I'll tell you how to say it when I get back :P
cahomatha: i don't know if this is like a phrase and separated but that's how you pronounce it...it's like saying "how are you" when you greet someone
hon thy: this is how to answer the above questiong; it means "good"
Mata ________ oney: I ________ want; this language is kind of like French, so you put whatever you want in the middle...... like if i wanted to say "I want Ju-Jubes" (b/c those are my favorite) =D then I would say it like "Mata Ju-Jubes oney"
I'm sure there's more that I can understand....I just can't remember any other words I can put down at the moment.... =) I'll update more words laters. =)
Upeeyanowa! (I am going now!)
